WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR RE-ROOFING PROJECT

If you are like most customers, this probably is your first experience with re-Roofing and you are wondering what to expect. Please be aware that Tejas Roofing’s goal is to re-roof your home without causing you any inconveniences, however because of the nature of the work, sometimes this is not possible. We are grateful for your patience and understanding, and apologize in advance for any inconvenience. In any case, our Houston roofing contractors will do the job to the best of our ability.

SCHEDULING: We will make every effort to schedule your re-roofing project at a time that is convenient to all parties involved. If you would like to request a specific date please call our office. Otherwise we will call to inform you of the start date. In the event we are unable to reach you we will leave a message on your answering machine, or with the person who answers the phone.

WEATHER CONDITIONS: Should your project be delayed due to bad weather we will try again on the next day, provided there’s good weather, or we’ll notify you when we can proceed. We are fully prepared in case the weather should turn bad during the project. The crews will seal your roof to prevent any water from entering your home, and we will resume work as soon as weather permits.

DELIVERY: If you have specified to our representative where you want the materials delivered we will bring it there. If your driveway has bad conditions or could get damaged by the weight of the delivery truck, we need to be notified before delivery. Please notify us 24 hours prior to delivery of any changes with your instructions.

COMMUNICATIONS: If you have any questions or problems during your roofing job please call the office immediately. Our office hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday

SIGNS: Placing a sign on your property is the first step in re-roofing your home.

SHINGLES: There are usually two types of shingles sent to the job. One is a three-tab shingle that is generally used as the starter shingle. The other shingles sent for your project are the brand and style of shingles you requested to have installed.

WIRING AND AIR CONDITIONING: Electrical, telephone, security, air conditioning or any other service lines should not be installed directly underneath the roof decking. It should neither touch nor lie against the roof decking in the attic areas. When we are nailing from above, the roof nails will penetrate the decking and can puncture lines. If you are aware of such lines, we must be notified immediately. We cannot be responsible for the puncture of improperly installed lines.

LIGHT FIXTURES, MIRROWS AND PICTURES: These items can fall if not firmly attached to the wall or ceiling. We suggest that you check and make sure they are secured. We will not assume responsibility for plasters and small particles of acoustic material falling from where the nail heads are, or for small cracks or crow’s feet that appear on older plaster.

TEAROFF: During removal of the old roof, debris like plywood and 1X8/1X6 decking joints will likely fall on the attic, please take necessary steps to protect all items you might have there. We will cover any exterior areas you indicate that require protection and a thorough clean up will be done thereafter. We will not assume responsibility of damages caused as a result of re-roofing.

ACCESS: Your contract price was computed with us having access to the driveway for our trucks, and us utilizing your electricity for the project. If exterior plugs are not available, please run an extension cord through a window or door. Please advise Tejas representatives of any limitations your driveway might have. Let us know is there is no access to driveways so necessary steps can be made to avoid damages.

TREES AND SHRUBS; AND SHRUBS: If you have low hanging branches over the roof or that too close to the work area, some trimming may be necessary. Our men will only cut those that limit our ability to do an efficient job. You may prefer to have the tree or trees trimmed by professionals before we begin work.

CHIMNEY FLASHING AND COUNTER-FLASHING: When removing the step flashing around the perimeter of a chimney and cricket, Tejas will replace the step flashing at no additional charge to the customer. After removal and we see rotten decking, 2X4 bracing, or brick damage, additional charges will be made.

SOLAR PANEL – SKYLIGHTS: Arrangements in removal or replacement of solar panels are the sole responsibility of the owner unless stated otherwise in the contract. Also, we cannot be responsible for old or inadequate sky lights breaking. If you decide to use such, our warranty against leaks will be forfeited. Tejas Roofing can have new custom sky lights made or if desired, can remove the old ones.

ANTENNAS AND SATELITE DISH: These two devices will need to be removed from the roof before installation of the shingles. We will put these devices back on the same spot, with the same screw holes and in the same direction it was in. However, there is a chance you will need to call your cable company just in case the reception becomes bad. It’s usually not the case though when we set satellite dishes back on the same position.

VENTS: Upon completion of the job, please check the interior connections of your furnace and also your hot water heater vent pipes. If you are unable to do this, Let us know and our foreman we’ll be happy to do it for you.

LEFT OVER MATERIALS: Our proposals are based on complete jobs. Any leftover materials will remain the property of the company. We customarily ship more than what is needed to ensure an adequate supply for our crews.

PAYMENT: All payments are due upon completion. At this time, Tejas expects to receive payment in full from you unless other arrangements are made in writing which is directed to the administrative office of Tejas Roofing and Contracting. Please make arrangements for funds to be available at this time. For your protection, make checks payable to Tejas Roofing and Contracting. Tejas will not honor any payments and issue any warranties, if the payment is made to anyone other than Tejas Roofing and Contracting.

WARRANTY: Your new roof will be covered by two warranties.

WORKMANSHIP: This is our warranty; it covers the actual work but not the materials. The specifics of this warranty are outlined on the contract you signed and on the warranty form. Our warranty is good for 10 years on complete roof replacement. The warranty is on chimneys, vertical walls, vents and ridge vents. The warranty does not cover damaged lead vents caused by squirrels nor broken/ moved caulked collar seals done by water heater/air conditioning vent winds.

MATERIAL: This warranty is issued by the shingle manufacturer and covers the material that was used. These warranties will be registered with the manufacturer and should be received 3 weeks after registration.

REFERRAL BONUS: We offer a referral incentive program to our customers. If you refer us to another customer, we will give you a $100.00 referral fee after their job is completed and paid in full. In order to validate your referral, we require that the customer you refer mention your name upon initial contact.

NOTE: AFTER YOUR ROOF IS INSTALLED AND YOU NOTICE A PROBLEM, PLEASE DON’T HESITATE TO CALL US IMMEDIATELY. OUR HOUSTON ROOFING CONTRACTORS DO NOT GET MANY CALLS ABOUT LEAKS FROM OUR ROOFS, BUT WHEN WE DO, WE TAKE THEM VERY SERIOUSLY!

SHOULD THE LEAK BE THE FAULT OF TEJAS, WE WILL REPAIR YOUR ROOF AND THE SHEET ROCK AS WELL. HOWEVER, TEJAS WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LEAK THAT IS NOT CALLED IN TO US DURING THE FIRST MONTH. A NEW LEAK IS NOT BLACK AS IT TAKES 6 OR MORE MONTHS FOR THIS TO OCCUR. WE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES IF IT HAS NOT BEEN HANDLED IN A PROACTIVE & RESPONSIBLE MANNER.
