There are actually two Magnolia locations:  the original “Old” Magnolia, with a population of about 2,000 residents, is off Highway 1774.  The second portion of Magnolia is 12 miles to the east of Old Magnolia is New Magnolia.  In between the two versions of Magnolia is Highway 249, a tollway that extends all the way to Conroe.  The newer version of Magnolia has its own Chamber of Commerce because there is more commercial development than in Old Magnolia.

Before 2017, Magnolia was a sleepy, quiet town of housing developments, including a couple of managed communities.  Then off Highway 2978 (Fish Creek) developers built approximately 1500 homes, and the boom off Fish Creek started.

The Texas Renaissance Festival is hosted by Magnolia.  The annual celebration is the largest and most acclaimed Renaissance-themed festival in the United States and is a grand spectacle that transports visitors to the time in history where chivalry, merriment and enchantment reigned.
