• Are they Adequately Insured Ask for documentation that the company is properly and adequately insured for your protection so you can rest easy knowing that you’re covered if someone is injured on the job or if something on your property is damaged during installation.

• Check Ratings and Reviews Read other customer reviews on Google, Facebook, Home Advisor and Angie’s List. Don’t be turned off one- or two-star ratings.  All businesses get the angry customer every now and then that you can never please everyone.  What’s more important is how the business responds to upset customers, and if they try to make things right.  If they have a lot of reviews, chances are they will have a few negative ones. It’s more important to have a lot of reviews than to have all 5-star reviews, than only a few reviews. • Are They Locally Owned? Another important factor is to have local experience and management. Understanding Houston’s climate is important when choosing the best roofing materials, but equally as important is having roots in the area so you know the company will be there for you if you have any issues down the road. The owners are the managers of Tejas Roofing Contracting and are native to the area.  We understand what it takes to run a Houston-based business and hire local, experienced employees who are used to working in our environment.   We will be here today,  tomorrow and for years to come.

• Never Pay Upfront Be suspicious if anyone asks you to pay for the job before materials are ordered or delivered. Tejas charges 50 percent of project total once materials are delivered and  the balance is due upon completion of the job.

• Can You Work with and Talk to Owners? You should be able to talk directly to the owner of the company if necessary to ask questions and know that they won’t be gone tomorrow.  Do they are roots in the area?  Are they local and do they have vendors and business relationships that are trusted and will be paid?  When the owner is the manager, there is  pride and trust in the business relationship.

• Do They Answers All Your questions? – If you feel like you are not getting complete or accurate answers to all of your questions, it could be a red flag. Many construction contractors are just not experienced in every aspect of roofing, specifically. And, since there is not roofing license necessary in Texas, any contractor can say they can put on a roof.  Be suspicious of anyone who doesn’t seem well versed in the vernacular and language of the roofing industry.  Also, are they up to date with the latest technology and practices, ensuring the highest quality installation possible.

• You Choose the Process – We are flexible. If you’d like an estimate first, an inspection first or want us to just to come out and get started, we’ll work with you on your schedule and your process.  We work with your insurance and handle all of the logistics from start to finish.  We know how stressful a new roof and repairs can be, so we make it easy for you to work with us.  If things become complicated with a contractor, you might want to re-think the relationship and give us a call.
